Hello,

I am trying to trace the origins of my 2nd Great Grandfather & his Wife.

His name was Patrick Hoare, born about 1811; he was married to Anna Hogan, born abt 1825. When they sailed for Port Adelaide, South Australia from Plymouth, England on the 26 February 1854 they had two children, Patrick aged 1 and an infant named John. They settled at a mining town called Kapunda where Patrick worked as a miner.

Patrick had a brother, Michael, born about 1816 who also emigrated, he aboard the ship Time and Truth which left Plymouth on 11 January 1854. He was accompanied by his wife Margaret (37); daughters Biddy aged 13 and Maria (6) and son Thomas (11). Michael initially lived at Kapunda and later farmed in the Hawker District in South Australia where he died from typhoid fever on 28 Feb 1888.

I am writing a book about my Family's History and want to be accurate about its origins; any information would be most helpful. The best I've had so far is that most migrants that departed England from Plymouth hailed from Cork or Dublin.

Thanking You in advance

Ian Beard
