I am trying to trace the ancestors who moved from Ireland to Newcastle under Lyme in approx. the 1840s, there appears a record of Edward Rutlidge and Mary Rutlidge both in their 30s having been born in Ireland, this is in the 1861 Census.
In the 1851 Census there is a record of Edwards Mother aged 60 living as a widow in Newcastle Under Lyme giving details of her birth in 1791 the location of Pausb Kilbrean Roscommon. I am assuming that the Enumerator who took the census has in fact written what he has heard and that is Kilbryan.Stopping in the house at that time was a visitor a Dommel Bulger. There were also visitors recorded in the 1861 census of Patrick Cole,William Sneake,Thomas Alyce and Owen Byrne.
As a matter of interest they were living in an area known as the Lower Green and with there being a lot of industrialisation at that time in the Iron Foudries and Coal Mines there were a great many Irish Immigrants in the town all living in that area, it became known as Dunkirk, they were referred to as `Newcastle Blacks`, on account of there being o wash houses at the Mines or the Founderies.

Dear Chris
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.
As you can see from the link below, Kilbryan is a Civil Parish in Co. Roscommon:
Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Boyle begin in 1827.
There are some places where you can search online, however these websites do not have complete collections and many do not cover the period after 1900:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.
Some other websites that may be helpful are:
The National Archives of Ireland: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/ - you can search the 1901/1911 Census on the National Archives page too
