Searching for information regarding Thomas James Burke, son of James Burke and Mary Doyle. When he arrived in America about 1865-1866 he said he was 16 years old, born in Dublin in 1850. No further information except his parents' names were given in his marriage record in the Catholic parish records in Colorado, USA and also said he had a sister living in Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA. Have been unable to find him or family in Dublin records. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if you had a go at searching Ancestry.com would you be able to find more info on immigrants to the US? Ellis Island records those from 1892, so that's too late. It might give you a townland or in the case of Dublin, a street name to base a further search on

Thank you for your reply. I have been searching Ancestry and several other sources for years! I have not been able to identify this family in the records. Two of my daughters have gone to Ireland and searched and I have a friend who lives in Dublin who has gone to the record offices, National Library, etc. and no one has been able to find the family. My post was in hopes of a family connection somewhere that could give more information. I have a lot of documentation on this man AFTER he arrived in the US but he was very secretive about his beginnings in Ireland.
