My great-grandmother was Elizabeth Reilly, born in 1866 at Glenmore, Carlingford Parish.
My great-great-grandparents were John Reilly and Rose Savage. Rose was born in 1828 at Glenmore.
Rose's parents were Thomas Savage and Mary O'Neill, and lived at Glenmore.

MY SECOND-GREAT-GRANDPARENTS:

John Reilly and Rose Savage were married in 1853 in Cooley Catholic Parish and had at least six children, at least five of whom emigrated to America and lived at Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

1. Mary Reilly (1854-1909), married Owen S. McGovern in Wisconsin and had ten children.

2. Anna Reilly (1856-1937), married Andrew Fred Gamm in Wisocnsin and had five children

3. Lawrence Reilly (1858-1906) married Mary O'Neill in Ireland and had four children there before emigrating in 1893. They had 6 more children in Wisconsin.

4. Patrick Reilly (1862-1940) married Anna Smith in 1896 in Wisconsin and had two children.

5. John Reilly (born 1865) - nothing further known.

6. Elizabeth Reilly (1866-1911), my great-grandmother, married Jeremiah Barrett in 1891 in Wisconsin and had eight children.

MY THIRD-GREAT-GRANDPARENTS:

Thomas Savage and Mary O'Neill had at least six children:

1. Mary Savage, born 1815 at Glenmore.

2. Bid Savage, born 1818 at Glenmore.

3. Peggy Savage, born 1820 at Glenmore.

4. James Savage, born 1824 at Glenmore. I think he may be the same man as James Savage who lived in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. That James Savage married Anne Morrissey (1836-1908) and had ten children. He died in 1922.

5. Rose Savage, born 1838 at Glenmore and married John Reilly (above).

6. Thomas Savage, born 1831 at Glenmore.

There was also a man named Hugh Savage who may be related to this family. He was born about 1810 at Newry and married Mary Hagan in 1843 in Carlingford Parish. They had two children in County Louth before emigrating to America, three more children born in New York, and four children born in Wisconsin. He died in 1893, and his wife Mary died in 1900.

I'm interested in any further information about this family, and also in hearing from any relatives in Ireland or elsewhere.

  • Hi

I am not the area volunteer and unsure if there is one, however as you appear to be searching for relatives I think you could try this site and leave a message and peruse the photos. See

http://www.carlingfordpeople.ie while Glenmore is not strictly Carlingford it is close and I understand is now often known as Castletown Cooley.

    Hope this assists.
