I am looking for information on my ancestory and possible living, distant releatives who may still reside in County Cavan. Accourding to my Grandfather ( William Thomas McKeown III ) our ancestors came from Valley James Duff in Cavan County? I have tried to look up information on this but found nothing. If there is anyone who knows any McKeowns who have ties to my family I would love the opportunity to exchange email. Here is a sample of what I have found so far.

My Great Grand Father was William Thomas McKeown II, His father was William Thomas McKeown who was married to Grace O'Hara. His father and mother are Thomas McKeown and Grace Gallagher, these are the two that first made it to America. His father and mother are James McKeown and Charlotte Woods. James Had a twin brother. From what I know, James also worked in England and in harsh conditions. After James the trail goes cold. I hope to find any relatives who can help me in this quest. Sorry if it is confusing! thats whole lot of williams and thomas!

I think you are looking for Ballyjamesduff in Castlerahan civil parish. From your narrative, it appears the McKeowns left Ireland in the early 19th century. There were no McKeowns in Castlerahan parish in the 1901 census and the 1856 Griffiths valuation head of household listing for Castlerahan does not show any McKeowns. I looked at the Griffiths for all of Co. Cavan at www.askaboutireland.ie and there were 24 entries possibly some duplicates but the majority were in Enniskeen parish a good distance to the northeast of Castlerahan.
