Bridget Conway was born on 12 Dec 1866. Her Parents were Patrick and Bridget (Nee Scanlon). She married Martin Redmond in 1890 and had 6 children, Alice, John, Patrick, Ellen, James and Martin. They were in Waterford in 1901 & 1911 census. Does anybody have any info on this family. I think the daughter Ellen (Eileen) Redmond went to England and married but had no family. Mother Bridget and son William are in 1901 census in Barrack st in Cahir, but I can't find any trace of them in 1911. Patrick and Bridget were married in Clogheen in 1866. Patrick Conway is listed in 1893 as a car driver and his son William is listed as Car driver in 1901 census. Patrick died before 1901 census. I see from other posts elsewhere that a son John Joseph Conway emigrated to Australia. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Tom and Clare,
Thank you Tom for all those links. Local knowledge is always the best. I had the marriage date - 13 feb 1866. Wit. were Anna Keating and Pat Ladegan - maybe Lonergan?
Bridget's marriage date was 23 Nov 1890 and Johanna Conway was 1 of her witnesses, I presume she was her sister born 1875, though that might have been a bit young for those times.
Do you think was Patrick a bother to James? This means that Michael (b1876) is a nephew of Patrick.
Bridget Scanlon Conway (aged 57) died on 12 Dec 1902, Bridget Redmond was the informant. She is a widow in 1901, so Patrick died sometime before 1901. He is listed as a Car owner in 1893 Directory as well as Mrs Bradshaw in Barrack St and a Thomas Conway in The Square. I also see that William had a few encounters with the law in 1905/7 and Bridget Redmond is mentioned as next of kin, so the rest of the family may have emigrated.
I'm hoping that somebody else might read these posts and know of some connection.
Thanks again

Hello, I know this reply is many moons away from the original enquiry, I think we may have a family connection!

Hi, I am almost certain that Ellen Conway, daughter of Patrick Conway and Bridget Scanlon, is my great grandmother. Ellen had 3 children, John Christopher and Elizabeth . Do you have your DNA on any sites? Mine is on 23andMe .

Hello Tom, I have a specific interest in the Conway/Scanlon family, I believe their daughter Ellen was my great grandmother, I notice in your previous post, you said you had attached numerous attachments and a photo of the Conway shop in Barrack Street. I’ve been to Barrack Street on a recent trip to Ireland but did not know which house was the Conway’s . Would you send me a copy please. I would like to see if there is any additional information, which I may have missed during my research into my family. I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Ann
