My Great grandfather was John Price. When he joined the British Army, stated that he was born in Mullingar in December 1846, and that his father's name was Timothy. I have been trying to find the family for around 20 years now, and would be grateful for any help or advice availabe from your members.

I visited Mullingar about 15 years ago (before records were fully on line), but could not get any help from either RC or CoI churches at that time.

Perhaps you know where the records are now stored or if they have been digitised, which site to look at?

Many thanks and best regards

Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie  indicates that they have Mullingar RC records back to the 1700s. The C of I baptismal records don't start until 1849 but marriages start in the 1700s. See link.

I could only find an 1849 baptismal record for a John Price but the father was not Timothy. I also did not check the parish.

I also looked at the 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Mullingar parish and there was no Timothy Price listed.

  • Hi Ina, my name is Alejandro Price. And my great-grandfather's name is John Price, born in Co.Mullingar (apparently in Rathconnell but we are not sure) born apparently in the year 1842 (but idk if that's correct.).
I know your post is a bit old, but maybe we can chat and share more information.
    Regards!

  • Does someone know how I can contact Ina Glover? This could be my chance to know a bit more about my family tree. Also, my parents are traveling in a few months to Ireland and could be interesting.

Each time a comment is made on an existing message thread, all prior commentators receive a notification. So in this case Ina and myself. My guess is that Ina no longer uses the e-mail address that she used in 2014. At this point, I don't know how we can contact her.
