Hello All,
I am seeking information on the following, My Great Grandfather, Owen GAHAN and his wife Margaret REDMOND had a son, Thomas born 20/01/1835 in Dublin, he married Marcella STIRLING in Glasgow on 31/12/1855.
Would like to hear from anyone who can help.

do you have any clues as to what part of Dublin your Gahan family lived - e.g. in the city, suburbs or county ?

Hello shanew147,
Many thanks for the pronpt reply, sorry I am afraid that is all I have, I know that there was a cluster of Gahan / Gayne's in the Liverpool area and that Thomas was serving in the Army, stationed in Glasgow Barracks at the time of his marriage.
Regards,
Alex.

Dublin can refer to the city or the county it's contained in, and covers quite a few different parishes, unfortunately not all of these parishes have records back as far as you need for your Gahans.
Most of the Dublin city parish records (RC and Church of Ireland) are included on the free IrishGenealogy website, and many for the county are on RootsIreland pay-website. I had a look yesterday for a possible baptism for your Thomas without any success, but will keep an eye out for him...

a long shot - but the godparents to this 1830 baptism at the ProCathedral in Dublin might be your Owen and Margaret :
Name Margaret Teresa McLaughlin
Parents : Matthew and Frances McLaughlin
Sponsors (Godparents) : Owen Gahan & Margaret GahanShane Wilson, IrelandXO Volunteer ☘

Hello Shane,
I can attach the Gahan file to this I notice your surname is Wilson, this also figures highly in my tree, ( all in Scotland.), would you like a copy of them as well ?.
Regards,
Alex.
PS, Sorry will not let me do so, just drop me a line and I will send it to you.

I have two separate Wilson lines in my ancestry, one from Co.Offaly here in Ireland the other from England (Huntingtonshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire) , none from Scotland
I couldn't find nothing else for possible matches to Owen and Margaret or their son Thomas unfortunately, but it's worth rechecking for spelling variations, wider date range etc.
Many of the records for the City area are on the free IrishGenealogy website, and transcripts of a number of the parishes in Co. Dublin are available on the RootsIreland pay website (mostly RC and Church of Ireland or both these sites)
Owen could be spelt the Irish way - Eoghan or Eoin, or in Latin in parish records if they were Catholic i.e. Eugenius, possibly also worth trying variations in spelling for the surname also - e.g. Gaghan/McGaghan etc
It's possible that they lived in a parish where records dont go back far enough, or were noted on now lost/damaged pages in the registers, or where records are not avaialable online. If a more detailed location crops in any of later Scottish records, e.g. the name of a town or parish in Co. Dublin , then you could possilby try a more focused search
