Searching for my acestors from Drumbore, Cloone, Leitrim. Patrick Cox born 1818 and Alice Reynolds born 1816 were married there 18 August 1936. They had several children born in the area: John 1840, Bernard 1837, William 1842, Francis 1848, Patrick 1848, Margaret 1847. I know the dates are confusing, but all information is a bit clouded. A later US census shows a confusion of ages for Patick and Alice being 8 years apart in age. Any assistance would be of great help. I believe I have relatives still living in Ireland. Perhaps distant cousins I would love to connect with. It appears that Patrick and Alice immigrated to US in different years. Patrick immigrating first in 1848, followed by Alice with the children in 1852 arriving in New York. Their son, Francis, was my direct great grandfather. I have been to Ireland before, but I did not have all of this information. Verbal tradition had put the Cox ancestry from County Roscommon. Perhaps Patrick Cox was born in Roscommon. Ancestry records I have able to trace give the information above. Any help would be most gratefully appreciaed. I would like to return to Ireland to visit my ancestral roots, but I am getting older and fear that I may not be able to make the trip in the not too distant future. Go raibt maith agat go mor.

I went on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and there are 7 baptismal records from 1831-1843 for Cox children born to Patrick and Alice. I think that the records are in the Cloone RC records. ( I assume these records apply to your family but possibly there was another Pat and Alice Cox in the area)

You should be able to use the indexes to try different first names and determine which year the records were for and the church without paying for the record (unless you want the records).

Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.
