There?s a mention of this family on RosDavies?s site. Information supplied by Karen Mather from parish records:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/%7Erosdavies/SURNAMES/R/Rice.htm
The site also mentions 3 Bernard Rogans in Loughinisland:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/%7Erosdavies/SURNAMES/R/Rogan.htm
Griffiths Valuation for 1863 does not have anyone named Andrew Rice listed in that parish. There is one Bernard Rogan. He had a 10 acre farm (plot 33) in Seavaghan townland.
There were still some farms and a couple of other Rogan households there in 1901:

This farm has a Rogan granddaughter born in England staying there. Perhaps the name fits your family?

Thank you so much for your speedy reply, and thorough information - very much appreciated. Ros' site is marvellous, isn't it? I'll follow up on the ten year-old Margaret Rogan from England, who you revealed..
In case anyone is interested: In 1891 UK Census, a Mary Rogan from Ireland was staying with George Brady and wife Margaret Hannah. Their daughter, Mary Jane Brady (1856-1911), married Isabella Rogan's son, John Rice (1859-1935) in Hebburn. I know their living descendants, who are multitudinous.
Isabella Rogan and Andrew Rice had 10 children (who are recorded in UK Census), but apparently only 4 married:. In addition to John Rice marrying Mary Jane Brady, Michael Rice married Annie Cox & Jessie Gall Cruickshank, Isabella Rice married John Keenan, and Eliza Jane Rice married James Carmichael.
Mary Jane Brady's line can be traced back to 1670, to a woman named Barbery Spowers.
i'm happy to help anyone who is interested in these people.
Thanks again for your efforts.
Best wishes,
Karen
