Hi Folks

I'm trying to find the possible death dates of my great grandparents Hugh Beattie born March 20, 1860 in Herdstown to Charles and Christian (Davis) Beatty and his wife Agnes Gilmore born January 26 1857 in Herdstown to Hugh and Sarah (Davis) Gilmore. Hugh and Agnes had children: James born 1883 married Maggie Allen of the Primacy, John Nelson born 1888 married Leah Isabella Conway, Charles born 1889, Ellenor Jane born 1894 married Robert Gaw Moore, Agnes Elizabeth born 1896, Christina born 1899.

I believe that Agnes died before Hugh and likely before 1916 and Hugh I have no idea of when he may have died.

I would appreciate any help with any information with this family.

    I think Agnes died on 29.11.1901 (regd Newtownards as Agnes Beatie).  Hugh seems to have remarried to Jane Harper on 23.11.1906:

    I think Hugh may have died on 25.4.1911 aged 49. Death regd Newtownards.

    Hugh?s cottage in Ballyfotherly was plot 11b. The valuation revision records show it passing to his son Charles in 1913. (Griffiths clerks were often a year or two out when picking up changes).

  • Thank you Elwyn, a good place to start looking. I had gotten information many years ago about Hugh remarrying to a Jane Harper or Hapenny and filed it away because the age was off a wee bit but I'll reinvestigate.
