My 3xGr Grandparents, Simon Strahan and Frances Murphy, were married in Grangegorman, Dublin in 1820 (according to Family Search website).  Simon may have been born in 1799 in Grangegorman, while Frances may have been born in 1803 (again according to the Family Search website).  They had a son, Simon Jnr, who was born in 1827 in Grangegorman, and who came to Australia in the 1850s, and died in 1912 aged 85 in Waanyarra, Victoria, Australia.  I have heard that Simon Jnr came to Australia via Calafornia with his 3 half brothers, but I don't know how true this is.  I am trying to find out if Simon and Frances had any other children, and also I would like to confirm when Simon and Frances were born and died.  I would also like to also confirm Simon and Frances' parents info, and siblings, if they had any.  I'm not sure if the family was Catholic or Protestant.  Any help on this would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance, Lei-anne Ward

  • Hi

I am also researching the Strahan family, through Simon Jr who came to Waanyarra Victoria Australia. Sorry but I only know the parents names Simon Snr and Frances [Murphy] Strahan. I cannot add their birthdates etc. Simon Jr married Ann Bright in Dunolly in 1865 and they lived in Waanyarra and Tarnagulla. They had 8 children and I am descended from their third child Deborah who was my GG Grandmother. Please feel free to reply via this website if you wish to discuss further.
