Dear Brian
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.
There is a John Finnegan listed on the Griffith's Valuation in Templeboy in the townland of Ballyeeskin. There is an option whereby you could find out who was situated on this plot (assuming this is your Finnegan ancestor) on land up to the 1950s and 1960s. However, this soure, the Revision or Cancelled Books are not yet available online. You can find out more about them here:
http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/revision-books.html
It did hear at one point that there were plans to digitise the records but so far nothing has come of it. You would have to hire a researcher for a couple of hours (you know the townland so that's great) or you would have to get to Dublin yourself and go to the Valuation Office on Abbey Street. There is a small charge to access the books/copy the information but the staff are very helpful.
As a back up there are a couple of Finnegan entries on the online phone book where address are listed and you could write to them.

Hello
I am from Templeboy and there are still Finnegans living in Ballyeaskin, Templeboy, but no Farry names. I can assist you further is you wish, do you want to make contact with the Finnegans - was it the Farrys that we from Ballyeaskin only? There are a number of Finnegans families in Templeboy still and you would need to know which ones you are related to before making contact. Do you have a town land for Patrick Finnegans.

Hello Brian
Firstly apologies for not replying to you sooner, I was off line for a while on this site.
There are Finnegans in Ballyeaskin still and I think you have the right family. The current man living there is Enda Finnegan and his wife and family and also his mother.
His father was called Eddie Finnegan (Edward I presume) who may be a nephew of your father. Eddie Finnegan dies some years ago.
I think if you were to write to the following address with the info you have it might be a good way to make contact:
Mr & Mrs Enda Finnegan
Ballyeaskin
Templeboy
Co. Sligo
Best of luck
Kathleen (I volunteer to help on this website for the Templeboy parish)

Robert, My name is Brian Finnegan from the USA. I looked at my tree but could not fine a Mary Finnigan. Also you spell the last name with an "i" were we use an "e". I show that John Finnegan (born about 1800) had a son named John (born 1831) in Ballyeeskin, Skreen, Sligo. He married a Sarah Farry in 1860 in Ballyeeskin, Skreen, Sligo. They had 5 kids (James born 1864, Margaret born 1866, John born 1869, Elizabeth born 1872, and my grandfather Patrick born 1874) all of them were born in Templeboy, Ballyeeskin, Skreen, Sligo.
I do not think that we are related. If you have any qoestion about my tree, you can email me at brianfinnegan01@gmail.com

Hello All, I am RAD’s cousin and our Ancestors Finnegan or Finnegan did come from Templeboy. Mary born about 1789 was the daughter of Andrew Finnegan and Bridget Kilmartin both born about 1759. The Tithe accounts show Andrew amongst other Finnegan at Ballygreighan, Doonmadden, Lugdoon. (I notice there are many Finnegan on other nearby lands even John from Ballyeeskeen). They really must have a common ancestor somewhere? I have Kilmartins at Aughris, Corkaghmore, Doonmadden, Rathglass (the common land between Andrew and Kilmartin (Bridget) is Doonmadden it seems? Would there be any parish records of their marriage, children’s baptisms? Even more so their ancestors ? Their daughter Mary married Patrick Flatley born about 1790 and I have Flatleys on Ballygreighan, Doonycoy, Rathurlisk, again Ballygreighan being a common link. It seems all these parcels of land were run by family members that married within another family nearby.? I hope these earlier names of Andrew and Bridget will maybe link up with others. Kind regards Niki

Hello Niki
The many families of Finnegans in Templeboy are not necessarily related, they have had a common ancestor many many years ago but even at the time period of the Tithe Applotments and Griffiths Valuation they were mostly not related. The Flatley at Rathurlisk is related to my own family (Flynn) and these Flatleys once owned a shop at where my parents home still is located at Rathurlisk
If you want to check birth and baptism recoeds, check the National Library of Ireland website. They are not indexed however, so you will have to go through them all and unfortunately some dates are missing,
You could also check Ancestry.com as this has records also but requires a subscription
If I can be of any other help please let me know

Hello Kfsulliv, Thank you for your post, very interesting, I have scanned through some of the death certificates and I notice that Patrick Flatly was a (master) Tailor in Sligo, this may be a little piece of gold that may trigger some links - somewhere. (could this be a Tailor shop in Rathurlisk?) ... I will be visiting Templeboy in September, I hope to find more and I shall keep you all posted if I do :-). Kind regards Niki :-)

Niki, Good luck on your search. We did not have much luck when we visited Aughris, part of Templeboy, when researching my Great Grandparents James Nevin and Bridget Golden. My Grandmother, Agnes Nevins born 1881 was a dressmaker.
My advice would be to do the searching at the Gov't offices in Dublin.
Although it is very unlikely, if you run across the Nevins while tracing the "tailor" connection, I would be interested. James Nevin was a Master tailor, as was his son James and several daughters were listed in the 1901/1911 census as dressmakers.
My Wife and I loved our trip to Ireland, with the exception of the secondary roads that are extremely narrow.
Regards,
Don
