We are seeking information on Denis Nyhan [b.abt 1796] who married Johanna Calnan [ we think this is the right spelling]  They had our Greatgrandfather John Nyhan [b abt. 1838]]  and another son Michael [b. 1820] and a daughter Cathleen [b.1825] . Michael married Mary Hurley and they had five daughters. Their  two daughters Mary and Kate Nyhan married two Carey brothers, Denis and Florence. John Nyhan aged 21 left Ireland with a Mary Nyhan aged 20 and Honora Nyhan aged 18 and sailed on the 'Ocean Chief'  and arrived in Melbourne Australia on 28th Nov 1859. They later came to New Zealand.

We don't have any information on Denis Nyhan, his siblings, and his complete family. Hopefully someone can help us with this information.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Since you posted in the Cobh parish page, I assume your ancestors came from that parish? The Cobh RC records start in 1812 so finding records for Denis or his siblings would be very difficult.

I checked Roots Ireland and did not find any Nyhan baptismal records for Michael,  Cathleen or John and also children of Michael.  Here is a link to the online parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0036 Possibly the family attended a nearby parish where records do not go back to the early part of the 19th century.

I also looked at the Tithe listings and there were two Denis Nihane records in Drinagh and Desertserges parishes. Don't know if these records are pertinent. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…

I also looked at www.irishgenealogy.ie which has records for the Diocese of Cork and Ross but did not see any records for you ancestors.
