I am searching for information about my grandmother, Nora Downey. I believe she was born around 1875-1880. My father, aunts & uncles only knew she was from Cork. She emigrated with her family to the U.S. possibly around 1881. They settled in Butte, Montana. Just this week I discovered that there was a copper mining industry on the Beara Peninsula & many families from there moved to Butte. Her parents names were Timothy Downing & Julia Sullivan. On-line I found baptism records for a Honora Downey of Eskivade for the parish of Allhies listing a birthdate of June 1 1876. Also a birthdate of March 8 1877 for a Honora Downing, birthplace Reentrisk. I know these are very common names in the area but I'm hoping to identify my grandmother. I feel I am getting close. Any help would be much appreciated.

Was your grandfather named Jim Larkin?

Please ignore that last comment, although if I have found the right family, Jim Larkin would have been your great uncle (by marriage to Honora's sister, Margaret). The Honora I am looking at was born in June 1876. Is there anything else that you can tell me that might help the research.

She married my grandfather, Lous Piero on April 15 1903 in Butte, Montana. He was a copper miner originally from Dubrovnik in what is now Croatia but at that time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She had 7 children. My father, John was born in 1910. Nora died on November 17 1914 in Butte. I remember my father talking about his cousin Julia Lowney who lived in Butte. I expect one of Nora's sisters married into the Lowney family. Maybe this is a clue to identifying Nora. Thanks so much for your help.
