Ive been told that my grandfathers family came from Armagh, however, I've found very few records in Armagh, yet, have found records of Ireland's in Kilkenny. I have a tree on Ancestry.com and I am stuck with Thomas Ireland's father Joseph Ireland born 1731 in Ireland. My aunt & uncle were able to travel to Armagh years back and were actually able to trace our family tree to known living relatives, however I do not have this information nor do their children.
Can anyone help me??

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
If you think that Kilkenny should be the focus I would forget about the Armagh aspect for the time being and try to find that definite Kilkenny ancestor. I wasn't able to locate a baptism for a Thomas or Joseph, though for the latter the time period is quite early and this might hamper the search.
The link below will give you an indication of the spread of the family name in Ireland in the mid-19th Century:

You will be able to see individual entries here:

Some of those above may also be listed in the earlier Tithe Applotment Books:

There are only10 entries for Ireland on the 1901 Census and most of these seem to be in the townland of Danesford:

As a long shot you could have a look on the online phone book, most include an address so you could write to them:

Best wishes
