My great-great grandfather, Samuel Ellis (abt 1810-1889) was born in Fohenagh. I am trying to locate his parents. One would assume that they would have been in the Fohenagh area at the time of his birth. I am unable to locate any records for his birth. The Irish Extraction Database has information on his marriage, which is Fohenagh is listed as a birthplace.
Name: Samuel Ellis Sex: Male Birthplace: of Foheny, County Galway, Ireland Marriage:16 May 1831
Marriage Place: Ahascragh, County Galway, Ireland Spouse: Mary Pearson Miscellaneous: Forester at Clonbrook, by license, witnesses Richard Pearson, John Garrett Source: Parish Registers of Ahascragh, Galway, Ireland.
He is also buried in Killinane Graveyard, County Galway along side his wife Mary.
I would also be curious to know if there is a way to find information on those that worked on the Clonbrock Demesne/Estate.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Patty

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I will alert our parish liaison in Fohanagh that you have posted a message. As an aside, if Samuel was RC, the records for the parish of Fohenagh and Killure start in 1827 which would mean that a baptismal record would not be available. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0331

Thank you Roger. Not sure of the RC, as we have family listed as Church of Ireland and also RC.
