I am descended from James Gwynne and Catherine Finley. Their son James was born about 1815. In various historical records, I have found members of the family in Kildallan, Dring and Ardlougher. I am not sure how to get any further. I don't know how to prove that other Gwynnes were siblings. There are none left by the 1901 census. James went to America in the 1840s then came to Australia.
We are hoping to visit Cavan in 2017 and I would love to be able to find these places and even some church records (they were Church of Ireland). Will I have to go to Belfast or Dublin to find parish records? Thanks for giving me this opportunity to put my details out there. Lyn Beard

Hello again!
Roots Ireland has some of the C of I records for Co. Cavan but I did not locate the record for James. From what I can tell, the records would be held locally. Can I suggest that you contact the Dicoes of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh and see where the records are located and for what years. http://www.dkea.ie/
