I am trying to locate any information on a Mary McCarthy daughter of John McCarthy unknown Mother. She was born Dec 1825 in Abbeyfeale Limerick. She emigrated to Canada in the late 1840's. This is my great grandmother and I have been absolutely dead ended on her. Any help greatly appreciated.

Baptismal records for Abbeyfeale RC church start in 1829 so if Mary was baptized in late 1825 a record would not be available. I checked the Tithe listings for Abbeyfeale and there were no entries for a John McCarthy. I then checked the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Abbeyfeale and there were three John McCarthys listed. Possibly one of the records is for your ancestor but there is no way of telling without other evidence.

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?
