Patrick, b. 1812 and Catherine, b. 1823 were married in 1838. They had 3 sons and a daughter (Bernard, Luke, Sarah and Patrick) before they immigrated to Jackson Co., Iowa, USA.  Can't find anything about their parents or ancestors.

  • Dear Sharon

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.

It would seem that Patrick and Catherine were married in the parish of Drumlane, Cavan on 1st July 1837. The witnesses to the marriage were not recorded and neither were either set of parents which causes a problem in terms of going back further. Patrick was from the townland of Drumachan and Catherine from the townland of Feugh. You can see the digitised copy of the marriage HERE. The only baptism record I can find is for a daughter, Margaret, baptised on 2nd November 1843 in the parish of Lurgan, Co. Cavan.

If you have a look at Rootsireland.ie (you an take out a 24hr subscription) you will be able to search for a baptism for Patrick and Catherine individually. There are a couple of options for Patrick but give some thought to a search +/- 5 years either side of the birth year you indicate above.

    Best wishes
