Mary (JOE) was born on 10th June 1873 in Ballynabloun, THE GLEN Parish of Prior.She was the daughter of Joseph Donoghue and Norry Shea . In her young days she managed one of the three fish sheds in Caladh an Bhaid (The Glen Pier). She married Thady Curran Breaghig, Waterville on March 1st 1908.
They had 5 children Bridie, Mary Ellen, Michael, Noreen and Hannah A baby christianed Catherine Margaret born 1913 and died after a few weeks..She was widowed in 1920 and had to rear the children without any State aidAt the time there was no widows pension..She ran house dances and raffles to support the family.Even here she ran into difficulty with the Clergy as they were against house dances at the time. Mary died on Aug.13th, 1943 and was buried in nearby Dromod Cemetery.
