Hi guys. I come from a long line of Barrys from Cork City... Even though I have not got that far back yet on my tree I keep getting DNA matches with people via Lady Ellen Barry 1631, Castle Lyons, Cork. She married a Sir Arthur Knight of Tralee Castle Denney... Would really love some help with this. I am new here and a little lost :)

Sarah-Jane:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
This free site https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ has Cork city RC church records and one parish (Cork South) gors back to the 1700s. You would need to start with the oldest Barry that you know about and work back. However, I don't think you will be able to connect all the way back to Lady Ellen Barry since records don't go back to the 1600s.

Hello Sarah,
Off the top of my head I can not recall the Lady that you listed, however I am Co admin at the Barry Surname project - https://sites.google.com/site/barrymorednaproject/
Would you lke to contact us and tell us more about your line and known history. We operate two DNA search facilities Y DNA for males and Autosomal for all results from 23andme, Ancestry, and FTDNA imported into Gedmatch.com.
The lady seems to originate from the same location that we have extracted DNA from looking for the 4th Earl's Y DNA which will be extremely useful in defining the Barry line of Anglo Norman families. I have visited Castlelyons, during the proceedure, my own line is not related as my DNA signature is completely different, even so if we know the Barry line signature from Odo deBarri then we know those who are also not related. My personal Email is mike@mikebarry.eu if you want to send me an updatre and if you or any family menbers have taken or would like advice on taking a test. Regards Mike Barry

Hi! Do you happen to have a Daniel Barnett Barry in your tree? He was mentioned as the executor of the will of Mary Lynch, who died in Cork City, 4 Jun 1872.

Hello, I'm searching for information on my 3rd great-grandmother Mary Barry. I've found what may be her baptism record:
Baptism 23 Oct 1820
Name MARY BARRY Date of Birth N/R N/R N/R Address N/R
Father JOHN BARRY Mother CATH MCCARTHY
Recorded Parochial Area SOUTH PARISH, CORK (ST. FINBAR'S, CHRIST CHURCH, ST. NICHOLAS, ST. JOHN OF JERUSALEM)The parents named above married 27 August 1815 at South Parish. John may have had a brother (witness at the marriage) named Garrett.
Mary Barry married Thomas McAuliff (or McCauliff, etc) in 1838 in Cork, according to info others have found. I have no citation for that. Son William was born in 1839 in Cork. They emigrated to America and had six more children. Most of them wound up in Iowa. Mary died in 1900 in Pittsford, Butler, Iowa.
So, if I've gotten Mary's baptism and parents right - or not, as the case may be - I'd like to find out more about her and her family, if possible. The big puzzle is Thomas' origin. His father may have been William McCauliff (or variant) born in 1786. There are a whole lot of Williams and Thomases in Cork records for either generation. I've found a McAuliffe family in the Moyvane/Listowel, Kerry, area that fits the bill, but that raises the question of how a guy all the way up in Kerry met a gal down in Cork, leading to marraige. Which tends to be more of a local process, I think. Plus all other references to my McAuliffs say they were from Cork.
If anyone can offer any guidance or enlightenment I'd appreciate it. By the way, my DNA results are due any day now. Thank you.
