Greetings from North Carolina, USA!

I have been trying for some years to search further back on Madden ancestors.  I cannot seem to find anything past James Madden (born circa 1835) who married Margaret Harris (born circa 1836).  They had, I believe, 5 children (Jeremiah, John, Margaret, Bridget, Liza, and Henry (one record says 'Kenry')..  Henry/Kenry is my Great Grandfather, and he was baptized at the Killanully Parish in Cork.  He emmigrated to the US about 1879.

I have only been able to learn that Henry's parents were James Madden and Margaret (Harris) Madden.  I cannot find anything else about this Madden Family.  If anyone has any information, I would be so pleased to hear from you!

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

www.irishgenealogy.ie has the records for the Douglas and Ballygarvan RC parish which is the RC parish for Killanully civil parish. I located baptismal records for Jeremiah in 1852 Kenry 1854 Margaret 1860 Bridget 1866  Missing records would be Liza and John. Also, did not find the marriage record and possibly the marriage occurred in an RC parish where records do not go back to the 1850 era.

Since civil registration started in 1864, I was able to find the civil birth record for Bridget. The townland shown was Killingly which I believe is Killanully. You have to sign-in to see the page and Bridget's record is the last one on the page.

The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows four Maddens. One is a James which may not be your ancestor. I'm wondeing if the Jeremiah in Killanully is his father.

I did not see any Maddens in the 1901 census for Killanully townland.

Let me know if you have any questions.
