Sir Richard Pierce Butler was born about 1813 and died in 1862. He was married to Lady Matilda Butler and their second son, Captain Richard Pierce Butler was born on 30 April 1839 at Monarch Lodge, Monkstown, Ireland. Sir Richard Pierce Butler was one of the Butlers of Cloughgrenan, County Carlow.
His son, Captain Richard Pierce Butler was with the 78th Highlanders. He emigrated to Canada and served as a Sheriff for the Central Judicial District in Manitoba until his death on 21 March 1912.
