Hello My great great grandfather's obituary in Chicago states he was part of the March 1867 Fenian rising against the police station in Argdagh. His name was John H O'Connor and he seems to have joined his uncle Patrick O'Connor in this event. He was from Cahermoyle and evidently left Limerick for Chicago soon after the Rising.
I have been following this past weekend on YouTube the commeration of the 150 anniversary of the Rising. Thank you to those who have posted videos on youTube!! amazing! The dancing video was wonderful....such talented young people! My niece is a dancer at Trinity here in Chicago so she will be interested in watching these young dancers too! I also see that St Kieran's Heritage Association has been founded to promote the heritage of Ardagh and surrounding townlands. I am not on Facebook and so can only see some of the good work and postings by the Association on FB. Does anyone know of anyway I can contact the St Kieran's Heritage Association to just keep up from afar on their work and events?
I also have been reading about the commoration events online from the Limerick Leader.
Best wishes
