Through the NLI site I have found the following records:

12 April 1795 marriage of my 4x great-grandparents, Thomas Fay and Bridget Smith/Smyth

13 Mar 1796 baptism of their daughter Bridget

{date covered} May 1800 baptism of their daughter (my 3x gg) Ann(e)

2 Dec 1823 Anne's marriage to Christopher Russell

17 Nov 1824 baptism of Anne and Christopher's daughter Bridget

Anne and Christopher Russell then moved to Athboy, where their son, my 2x great grandfather John, was born.

I have not found death records for Thomas Fay and Bridget Smith Fay, anything further on their oldest daughter, or any other children.

Could Griffith's Evaluation record of Thomas Fay in Normantown (Norbrinstown) could be my 4x great grandfather?

I am wondering if there is a graveyard that would be useful to explore and whether it is possible to visit the church where my ancestors were married and baptised. Any other information, of course, is most welcome, including whether there might be descendants of my forebears in the area.

What else is worth seeing in Kells?

Thanks!

  • Dr.Nance:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

We do not have a parish liaison in Kells but I will contact our parish liaison for Moynalty which is north of Kells to see if she can assist. If you have not heard back in a week or so, please let me know.

    When are you visiting Ireland?

Please consider adding stories about ancestors who left Ireland to our XO Chronicles site  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
