I am searching for information on my paternal grandmother's family. In the US, my grandmother used the name Nora Kelligrew, But it appears that her name was actually Nora Killigrew. There is some inconsistency in the date of birth she used, possibly Mar 1883 but as late as 1891 as noted in the US census records. Her father was Patrick Killigrew (Cilligru), born between 1839-1851 and died between 1911-1915. Her mother was Mary 'Minnie' Linehan who was born around 1851 and died in 1911. Nora was born in Dungarvan, County Waterford. I know that she had a sister Bridget and brother James. She could also have had a sister Ellen. Whether there were other siblings, I don't know. Nora emigrated to the Boston in 1903 where she married my grandfather, Ernest Ketchum. She lived in Hingham, Massachusetts and died there in 1943. If there is anyone who could assist me in learning more about her, I would really appreciate it.

I found a civil birth record for your Nora as Hanorah Killegrew, born Dungarvan registration district 12th January 1883 with parents Patrick Killegrew and Mary Linehan. Hanora/Nora's father is a labourer and he was the informant, the residence for the Killegrew/Linehan family appears to be 'Lagnagoushee' townland (placename database), which is located near RIng to the south of Dungarvan town.

Patrick's father is Jeremiah occupation weaver, and Mary's father is Thomas a labourer. Witnesses are Andreas (Andrew) Roche and Ellen Killegrew. The bride, groom and witnesses all 'signed' with their marks. Ringagona is an alternate name for the parish of Ringagonagh, and the chapel of St. Nicholas is located close to Ring/An Rinn/Ringville - see c1900 OSI map.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is definitely my grandmother because it fits with the little information I have been able to gather working with Ancestry.com and distant family members. Unfortunately, my father and his siblings spoke very little of their mother, other than the fact she was a 'saint,' and died 'young.' I am so excited and thrilled because I've been hitting a dead end, and long suspected her name was Honora. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all you have done. Short of marrying and having my children, this is one of the best gifts I've ever received! I've attached a picture of Nora, her sisters Margaret and Bridget and brother, James.
