The closest that I saw was Knockahaw but that is just a guess.

There is no civil parish or RC parish in Co. Laois that starts with Knock. The Knockahaw townland that Jim mentioned is in Rathdowney civil parish. I looked at the RC records for that parish and there were no Thomas Fitzpatrick baptismal records in the 1820s. However, there were many Thomas Fitzpatrick baptismal records in the 1820s in other parts of Co. Laois. Do you happen to know his parents names?

Thank you for the reply. My Thomas Fitzpatrick remains elusive. He ran away from Ireland from the Seminary at Maynooth prior to his Ordination after arguing with the Bishop. I have been to Maynooth and have his somewhat scanty details. They state that he came from Dublin County. His marriage, death and children's birth certificates all say that he came from Queens County. Where I'm here!!

I am still trying to trace the townland of my ancestor Thomas Fitzpatrick born around 1821 in queens county, son of William Fitzpatrick, I do not know his mother's name. I have found a ships list for the William Jardine giving details for a Thomas Fitzpatrick ariving in Australia. His native place shown on this document looks like Knocksha. Perhaps some one can decipher it properly for me.

I again checked the townland data base and there is no townland in Co. Laois that has a name close to Knocksha. Likely it was a local place name before townlands were standardized in 1851.

Since we now have parents names, I searched for a Thomas Fitzpatrick baptismal record with father William and mother Catherine but got no record.

It was great idea to attach the original image! I'm very familiar with handwritten images, and it looks like Knockaha to me. No "s".

There's a Knockahaw townland in Rathdowney civil parish, Co Laois - right on the border of Co Tipperary and about halfway between the towns of Templemore (in Co Tipp) and Rathdowney (in Co Laois).  Could that be it? https://www.townlands.ie/laois/clandonagh/rathdowney/errill/knockahaw/

To find the catholic parish that people from Knockahaw would have used, I suggest this database: https://www.swilson.info/rcparishlink.php?seldioceseid=12&selrcparid=48… I hope the link works.  If the database is correct and your Fitzpatricks attended Rathdowney catholic parish, the bad news is there's a gap in the registers from October 1810 to June 1839. That would be why you can't find your Thomas. But it might be worth having an explore on FindMyPast's Ireland Roman Catholic Parish Baptisms. That record set and the corresponding Marriages are free to search, view and download from; you need to register and log in first. Both those record sets might give you other members of Thomas's family :)

I searched the BNA and the article below came up.  Try searching for Knockapa as well as Knockaha. The landowner was Reverend Sewell Stubber before this article was published.

I agree with Knockaha. The last letter " a " is almost identical to the "a" in question.
