HI, I have reached a dead end searching for the Quigley family in the Kildoney Glebe and Ballyshannon area in the period 1800-1865. Here is what I do know:

1. My great-grandfather, James Quigley, born in Kilbarron on Dec 25, 1840; emigrated from Ballyshannon around 1866 to Chelmsford, MA, USA. Married Mary Carroll from Kinlough, Leitrim in 1867.

2. James' brother, Patrick, born around 1824; emmigrated to Chelmsford, MA around 1852; married Ann McGowan in 1861.

3. My great, great grandfather (father of James and Patrick) was John Quigley, married to Mary Dailey.

4. An uncle or cousin of James and Patrick, William Quigley, was born around 1823 in Kildoney (Glebe); emmigrated to Chelmsford, MA, USA around 1845; married Elizabeth Carroll from Kinlough, Leitrim in 1852.

5. William's father was Patrick Quigley.

6. An entry in Griffiths Valuation: Kilbarron Parish 1857, county Donegal for Mary Quigley as the tenant for a lot in Kildoney Glebe.  A good chance this is James' mother or sister?

I would appreciate any leads for next steps. Thanks.

    RC records for Kilbarron RC parish do not start until the 1850s so no records exist for the Quigleys in your message.

    I checked the Tithe listings for Kilbarron parish and there were no Quigleys listed.

    The Mary Quigley in the Griffiths is likely the mother of James. I did look for a death record index record for a Mary Quigley in the Ballyshannon registration district but did not find a record.

    You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

    Thanks for the research and reply. I will post to the XO Chronicles site.

    I have done the ancestry.com DNA test. It came back with my having 93% Irish heritage.  The test is remarkably precise in pinpointing my Quigley family origin as Southwest Dongal and including the locations mentioned for my ancestors.

    There is a volunteer run site called Gedmaych www.gedmatch.com  where you can load your raw DNA data and see what matches you have with people who tested with other companies (and also loaded their data to Gedmatch). It expands your matching pool.
