The Schools' Collection was undertaken by the National Folklore Commission between 1937-1939. Drumcharley was one of the schools that collected folklore from the local community for this Commission.

Drumcharley School was located in the townland of Drumcharley by St. Mary's Church, Drumcharley.  The school closed in 1970 when the local schools in Tulla were amalgamated and students from the other schools located outside the village were brought into Tulla for their education.  Today Drumcharley National School is a community centre which is used for special events.
