The Schools' Collection was undertaken by the National Folklore Commission between 1937-1939. Annaghneal School was one of the schools that collected local folklore from the community.

Annaghneal School was a local mixed school located in Annaghneal  townland Kilnoe civil parish.  The school was located within the Tulla district so that when amalgamation occurred of rural schools throughout Ireland, Annaghneal was amalgamated with not just Tulla but with those who wished to attend Bodyke.    The school was part of the Schools' Collection in the 1930s.  The stories were written in English, Irish and mixed (both English and Irish versions).
