Like many others, I have for years tried to search out Hugh Gallaugher B. abt 1780 - County Tyrone. It is said he may have been born in Clones, but I have not seen anything leading me there.

He married Margaret Paul (b. abt 1783).  They emigrated to Canada.  The best I can tell with at least 6 children arount 1831.   I hope to visit County Tyrone next year, I still have a lot of research to go.  Hugh would be my 3xs great grandfather.  Early census in Canada have been scarce as well.  Any help out there?

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Most of the RC parishes in Tyrone do not have records back to the 1820s or earlier. Records for Church of Ireland parishes is also very difficult back to that time period. I did search on Roots Ireland for the marriage record and baptismal records for the children and no records were located.

You may want to post the story of your ancestors emigration to Canada on our XO Chronicles site  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
