My great grandfather left Cornacarta in 1905. I have family that will be visiting Ireland this coming Summer and they intend to visit Cornacarta. Any information which someone might possibly be able to give me about the town of Cornacarta would be greatly appreciated. I have found baptismal records for my great grandfather John Foy and his siblings. According to the NLI Catholic Parish Registers the family members were baptized in the Parish of Aughanagh. Does anyone know in which church they may have been baptized? I know that three of my great grandfather's siblings remained in Cornacarta. I am also wondering if anyone might be able to tell me the possible cemeteries in which they might have been buried? Another member of the family Thomas Foy lived in Tawneytaskin. Is Tawneytaskin far from Cornacarta? I would like to provide my family with as much information as possible to help them make a connection. Thank you in advance for any information which anyone might be able to provide me.

In the 1830s there were two Catholic chapels in the parish of Aughanagh/Aghanagh, one at Greyfort village in Sheevagh townland, and another in Ballinafad in Gortalough townland. Both of these were still present in the late 1890s, early 1900s. I suspect that the chapel at Ballinafad was probably the parish church as it is located in the civil parish after which the Catholic parish is named.
The OSI maps don't show any graveyards attached to these churches, maybe someone with better local knowledge of this area might know the locations used.
Tawnytaskin is a townland consisting of just over 230 acres in Boyle civil parish and is located about 4km (abt 2 1/2 miles) to the south of Ballinafad, and just over 3km north of the town of Boyle - see entry on the placename database at Logainm.ie for Tawnytaskin and Google maps showing the route between these locations. Cornacarta is a townland located abt 6km east of the village of Ballinafad.
