I am planning a trip to Ireland in May of this year. I am looking for the graves of Edward Coyne born in 1840 and died Nov. 1924 in Mullingar district. I have not been able to locate his gravesite. He was married to Margaret Curren Coyne born in 1842 and died Oct. - Dec. 1880 aslso in Mullingar.
My Grandfather Christopher Coyne came to the U.S. in 1891 at the age of 18.
I would appreciate any information you could give me on where I might find these records.
Thank You

Dear Paul:
Welcome to the Ireland Reaching Out message board!
You might find the following sites helpful for graveyard research:
1. Historic Graves. www.historicgraves.com.
2. Find A Grave http://www.findagrave.com
3. Interment.Net http://www.interment.net
The Historic Graves is very useful as you can search by surname, map or location.
I have forwarded your query to a volunteer who may be able to assist. Please allow up to two weeks for a reply.
If you have any further questions, please let me know at: jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Hi Paul,
These are links to the death certificates online for Edward Coyne, died 1924:-

and Margaret Coyne, died 1880:-

Their addresses are given as Kilbridepass and Milltown. I think you will find that Kilbridepass is now the Pass of Kilbride, near Milltownpass which is outside of Mullingar. The deaths were registered in the district of Milltown. Your great grandparents' graves could possibly be in Milltownpass cemetery (Parish of Rochfortbridge) or alternatively you could try Coralstown (Kinnegad parish). You could try to contact the Parish Priest or secretary who may be able to confirm if your great grandparents are buried in either place.
Best of luck,
Mary

Hi Paul,
I read your post and believe we are related. My great great grand parents are Christopher Coyne and Margret Curren Coyne. They had a daughter Elizabeth Coyne as well as a son Christopher. Elizabeth Coyne marriied a Christopher Mcmenamey . Both Elizabeth and her husband Christopher came to the US in the late 1800s and had 4 children; one was my grandfather William.
I live in Ct. Also the 4 living children ( 1 is deceased) and most of the grandchildren and great grand children also live in CT. If you have any interest in connecting or sharing information. Please let me know.
Thanks
Patricia

Hi Pat, it does look as if we are related, I live in N.C. but still have family in Ct. so we do go up at least once a year. My grandfather was Christopher Coyne. We went to Ireland in May and were able to find the grave yard where our great grand parents Edward and Margarete Curren Coyne were buried. I never knew I had a great aunt in Ct. I grew up in Stratford. You can contact me at paulbjohnson@bellsouth.net
Thank you Mary for your information, we were able to find the Pass of Kilbridge cemetary and the Curren Family plot. We also found the the church my great grandparents were married in and my grandfather was christened in. Thank you for your assistance.
