The Lord Lieutenant and Council of Ireland have issued a proclamation, directing that the county Roscommon be divided into two divisions, to be called the division of Strokestown and the division of Boyle
—the former to consist of the Baronies of Balintober, Roscommon, and the half Barony of Ballymoe]—the latter to consist of the Barony of Boyle, the Barony of Athlone, and the half Barony of Moycarnon.
The object of this division is for the better convenience of the inhabitants of the county in the holding of Quarter Sessions—and the towns nominated for the purpose are, in the division of Strokestown, the towns of Strokestown, Roscommon, and Castlerea—and in the division of Boyle, the towns of Boyle and Athlone.
