II am looking for information on Catherine Connolly, father John Stanley solicitor Dublin, mother unknown.
Catherine was born about 1804, estimated from age of 36 years at 19 March 1840 at Westmeath Ireland, where she was tried on 20 October 1840 for stealing a coat, the property of Mr Mulvey and subsequently sentenced for 7 years to Van Diemens Land, Australia. She was transported aboard the Mary Ann which left reland on 30 March 1841.
From her convict records in Van Diemens Land, she was married with four (4) children and a house servant from Dublin.
Catherine died in 1874 in Queensland Australia, From her death certificate she had been in this country for 30 years, married at the age of 45 and was the mother to five (5) children.
She is a fascinating character and I would be most grateful for any help finding out about her Irish history, or even knowing where to look, it is quite overwhelming for a beginner.
My husband and I will be in Ireland in October/ November this year visiting many towns where our ancestors lived before being transported to Australia.
Many thanks,

Nothing promising showing up for a baptism of Catherine - it's very early for Church Records, and not all parishes have records going back this far. I also had a look for a possible marriage for Catherine Stanley to a groom with the surname Connolly, but nothing there either ..do you know what denomination your Stanley/Connolly family were ?
The 1901 census includes 12 people with the surname Stanley in Co. Westmeath, and two thirds of these (8) are Church of Ireland..A possible lead for John, Pettigrew & Oulton's Directory of 1840 includes a John Stanley solicitor of 12 North Frederick Street, Dublin city. The 1845 also lists a John Stanley solicitor & proctor of 64 Abbey Street, with an additional address shown as Armagh. "Country" solicitors often had a Dublin address and office, I believe a requirement at the time.
