I am trying to locate birth and death/burial  information for John Fleming. John married Mary McNamara in Murroe in 1839. I believe Mary McNamara may have been born in Murroe in 1822 and passed away in Murroe in 1882. I've attached the marriage and death records for Mary Fleming (nee McNamara) below. Mary's death record notes that in 1882 she lived in Murroe and was a widow. I'm assuming the John Fleming also passed away in Murroe, but I haven't been able to locate his birth record or his death record. I did locate Griffiths Valuation Record Information  that lists John Fleming residing in townland of Mongfune in 1851. Based on this information, I believe John may have passed away in Murroe between 1851 and 1882.

I would appreciate any information regarding his death/burial or birth that you can provide. Thanks.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I located a copy of the actual civil death record for Mary which shows cause of death and that her son John was the informant. 8th record on the page

    https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…

I searched the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  and di not find a death record for John Fleming. Civil registration started in 1864 so likely he died before 1864 or possibly he died 1864-1882 but the death was not registered civilly.

I also searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the earliest John Fleiming baptismal record in Murroe Boher RC parish was in 1835. There were other John Fleming baptismal records in other parishes earlier than 1835 but since we don't know his parents names we can't confirm any of these records.

Possibly the Murroe Boher parish would have some leads on where people who died in 1882 were buried. Likely there is no headstone.

  • Hi Roger,

Thanks for your response. It's hard to say when John Fleming was born and when he passed away. He may have been born about 1820 and passed away sometime between 1877 and 1882.

Based on the names of his sons, it's likely that his father's name would have been one of the names below:

Fleming John born 1844 Co. Limerick
Fleming Patrick born 1847 Co. Limerick
Fleming Daniel born 1849 Co. Limerick
Fleming William born 1850 Co. Limerick
Fleming Michael born 1852 Co. Limerick

Interestingly, there was a Daniel Fleming living in Mungfune, Abington, Limerick in 1826 as listed in The Tithe Applotment Books, 1823-37.

I'll try to see if Murroe Boher parish may have some leads on where people who died during period between 1877 and 1882 were buried.

    Regards,

    S. Gibbons
