Hello
Hoping you can help me find some information on my Great (x3) Grandfather Thomas Love and family. I'm quite sure the family lived in Donegal and information I found on familysearch.org indicated they lived in Drumhome / Drumholm Parish.
Here's what I have so far:
Religion: Church of England in Canada / maybe Church of Ireland
Thomas Love (<1801> - 1873) died in Saint John, New Brunswick Canada
Thomas parents may have been: Patrick Love (1773 - ????) & Margaret Crawford (1772 - 1840)
Christening - June 27 1801 in Lacklum, Donegal co, Ireland
Married #1 - Ann Spence? (<1809> - 1840 believed to have died in Donegal), February 28 1828 Drumholm Parish. May have have live in Drumcroil at time of marriage?
Children:
Elizabeth or Elisabeth Love (1830 - 1910)
Ann or Annie Love (1831 - 1873)
Thomas Spence Love (1832 - 1917)
Patrick Love (1834 - ????)
William Crawford Love (1839 - 1884)
Married #2 - Eleanor Ann Taylor (1786 - 1869 died in Saint John, New Brunswick) Drumholm Parish
Possibly immigrated to Canada in early 1840's after Ann (first wife) died.
I'm hoping this information can be confirmed and where Ann Love is buried? Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
DonLove

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The subscription site Roots Ireland has the records for Drumhome Churhc of Ireland parish back to the 1700s.
This is likely a transcription of the baptismal record for Thomas. The first marriage to Anne Spence was in February 1829 and Thomas lived in Lacklom and Anne in Drumnacroil townland both in Drumhome civil parish. The second marriage was in March 1841. See below. Eleanor Taylor was from Mullana cross townland and Thomas was still in Lacklom. The baptismal records available on Roots are Elizabeth 1830 Anne 1831 William 1833 Patrick 1834
For the burial location of Anne, I would contact the Anglican church in Donegal town http://donegal.raphoe.anglican.org/ and see what they can tell you about a burial place for someone who died in 1841. It does not appear that the Drumhome church i still active. The closest church may be Laghey.
Let me know what questions you have.

Hi Roger
Thank you so much for the information you provided. This will ceratinly be a geat help in my research. Is there any way to check to see if Thomas had any brothers & sisiters and their date of birth / death. In southern New Brunswick there seems to be roughly four main groups of Loves dating back to the 1830's - 1840's. I can not find any connections with these four families but, I'm sure at least two are connected. Here's the names I have:
James - 1799 - ????
Patrick - 1800 - ????
John - 1803 - ????
William - 1809 - ????
Thanks again

See below. I can't tell if the first Patrick died and a later child in 1810 was named Patrick. Possibly the 1810 Patrick was from a different couple with the same names? Unlikely but possible. Also address was not Lacklom.

Hi Roger
I believe the James Love matches a James that Lived in Saint John, New Brunswick. I assume there was no middle names listed for any of these gentlemen or occupations? The only middle name I have is a Patrick Craft Love.
Thanks again for all the information

Hi Roger
(hope you're still with Ireland Reaching Out)
I think I found a Military record for my Great Grandfather Thomas Love. Do you know of anyway to extract more information from this record - where to look?
It's also possible he spent time in the Royal Hospital Chelsea but, this is only sepculation?

I'm still here. I went on FindMyPast and the best I could locate is shown below. NOTE the top part of the info I pasted is extraneous.
However, when I looked at the link you provided, it appeared to me that you could go deeper on their online files to find more info on Thomas. Take a look. If you are unsuccessful, e-mail the Archives. Good luck!
Roger

I don't know if the answer your received from Letterkenny covered all of their branch libraries but there is a branch library in Donegal town which is within Drumholm parish. Maybe they might have a copy. Also, what about contacting the Anglican church in or near the town .
