I have been researching the McCammon family of Northern Ireland for some considerable time. Presently I am looking for more information about Jane McCammon, born on 18 December 1856 and baptised in the Clough Presbyterian Church on 22 January in 1857 - this information I got from rootsireland.ie - parents WilliamMcCammon and Margaret Mehaffey (? spelling). I have a lot of information about her brother John, born three years earlier, but nothing about Jane. I can't find a marriage or a death. Are you able to help in any way please?

I searched the marriage records for Co Down for a Jane McCammon marriage 1875 – 1921 with father named William, but did not find one.
I searched deaths 1864 – 1921 but did not find one that fitted exactly. Nearest was Jane McCammon registered in Downpatrick on 5.10.1875 aged 26. (You can view that on the GRONI site for £2.50). There was also a Sarah Jane McCammon who died in 1865 aged 8, registered in Banbridge. However Clough is in the Downpatrick registration area so unless the family had moved, Sarah Jane probably isn’t the right death.
Death registration only started in 1864 in Ireland. If your Jane died between 1857 and 1863 then there probably won’t be any record of her death anywhere save perhaps for a gravestone. Presbyterians generally don’t keep burial records.
You could try Clough National School attendance records to see if she is listed there. They are in PRONI under ref SCH/523. I do not know what years they cover though. You would need to get a researcher to look them up for you.
