The surname was likely Conaghton or Conaughton in Ireland. I assume you do not live in Ireland. You probably will need to do some additional work to try to find his parents names so we can see if there are any records for your Michael Connington. Some of the RC parishes have records back to 1820 but many more parishes have records starting later. The subscription site Roots Ireland has an 1821 baptismal record in Croghan parish but I would treat this record as a lead. Try to find a death record, obituary or other source which might show the names of the parents of Michael Connington.
