Tulla Clare Extract from Irish Independent Newspaper

In a graphic description of the scene at the meeting addressed by Mr DeValera on Sunday, a special cprrespondent of the London "Daily Mail" writes--

"People stood on the roofs of the houses, waved Republican flags, and shouted 'Up De Valera!'  Babies who could just toddle were held high in the crowd and cried 'Up Valera!' too, in their squeaky treble.  It was a day of triumph for the tall, slim young man in the romantic green uniform.  His eyes flashed as the Tulla contingent marched by -- the pick of the Clare fighting men  Their banner proclaimed them 'Tulla's Handful of Little Children'.  They marched like Guardsmen to the music of their drums and fifes.
