I am searching for information on Dennis Cuff (or Cuffe) who emigrated in 1850. I believe that his sister was Honora and his brothers were John, Thomas, and Richard. They all ended up in the United States. I believe (but haven't yet confirmed) that the parents were Richard Cuffe and Abigail Murphy. There are baptismal records in the Glanmire parish for all the other siblings but I have not yet located records for Dennis. I have picutres of Dennis and his siblings if that would help. I'd be grateful for any assitance!

Mattie:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site FindMyPast and only located the baptismal records for the four siblings that you mention in your message. You could try to scan the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0053 and maybe you can find the record. Most likely his baptism was not recorded or the entry was written illegibly.

Roger, thanks. I've been through the entire microfilm record page by page and found the presumed siblings as well as the following:
August 29, 1824: Child’s name is illegible; parents are Richard Cuff and Abigail Murphy; sponsors are Denis Murphy and Anna Cuffe.
I'm hopoing that this illegible child is Dennis, though it doesn't really look like it. Do you know of any way to get more clarity? I may be coming to Cork for a few days at the end of the month.

Miriam, thanks. I do have that one but there are lots of records in the US with his age, They vary slightly but nothing places his birth year any later pthan 1828, and most point to 1824. I have not been all through the Carrigtwohill records but my preliminary research did not turn up any siblings there. If you know of any, please let me know.
Thank you again!

Mattie:
Sorry, I was away all week. The register was microfilmed by the NLI in the early 1950s. You can try going to the church and looking at the actual register but I doubt it will have additional clarity. Before you go, contact the church and make sure they have the register and will allow you to view the 1824 page.

Roger, I've now been to Glanmire parish and looked at the mysterious page; there's an entry that's most likely "Mary" or "Margareaat" but deifnitely not Dennis. I've also met with a Cuffe who's a DNA match -- Ancestry surmises that we are 4th-6th cousins -- and we have intriguing overlapping details but still no hard evidence. But I'm still at work on it long-distance.
