I have managed to confirm that Laurence is John's father, via birth and marriage certificates.
Circumstantial evidence leafs me to hope that Mabella Staunton married to John Drought (d1780) were his parents.
Any thoughts?
His military records for enlistment show he was born here. I am hoping to find evidence to confirm his parents as Laurence Drought and Jane Strickett, who was in the army at the time. The family have a track record of baptising their children in local parishes near their postings. Any clues would be brilliant
