  • Looking for Patrick Dolan known as Doolan in Australia.  Left Plymouth 1841 for Australia with wife Ellen ( Rainey) and son Robert William named after his mothers father( Possibly a Patrick died before they left.) He was assigned before he left to Captain Grant. Both he and ELlen could read and write and both were house servants or Patrick also a labourer.  His property at Bombay near Braidwood NSW Australia is  still known as Roscommon, He is buried on the hill overlooking his homestead . Descendants placed a headstone there which is on private property. in Australia, Not a cemetery  HIs father Patrick Dolan school master of Roscommon.  His mother Eleanor O'Connor. Shipping records show both Doolan and Dolan.  These Dolans were protestants.

I think I have found a possible match first with the Unencumbered land titles of Pullelaher Athlone Roscommon 1860  Aug - Dec  1850-1885.  THere is Eleanor Dolan and others with matching ancestral names. .  Lease ( Lyster) dated 1798 with one of names Patrick Dolan. ( TIme of Protestant settlements?) Later James Dolan takes the lease in 1857 -Henry Matthew Smythe Esq _ New Park? Landlord

GRiffiths  Pollalaher Townland Barony Athlone Parish Cam Co Roscommon, Nearby is a National School at Carrick and at Cam also has is Patrick Dolan with house.

COuld a local person help with births deaths marriages  please.  As rents were paid by landlord Henry Matthew Smythe, would these records be held by the estate? I cant find anything on line. It would also be important to verify that the Eleanor Dolan is Eleanor O'Connor.

A few days ago I sent a message similiar to this to message board Roscommon but it seems to be lost
