I'm looking for information about Patrick and Elizabeth Jordan (my 3X great-grandparents). Their daughters were Annie 1819, Elizabeth 1821 (my 2X great-grandmother) and Julia Lavinia 1823. I have copies of the baptismal certificates for the 3 daughters (St Marks in Dublin) and Elizabeth was married in Ontario Canada in 1844. The 1901 Ontario census states Julia immigrated here in 1837 and I guess that either the family travelled together or at least the daughters did. I've checked every place/website I can think of and haven't found anything. Can anyone help me find a marriage record for Patrick and Elizabeth? Or a clue to where they lived while in Dublin? Thanks
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I couldn't find a Dublin marriage record on www.rootsrieland.ie/ but here's a possible from Limerick (bride's county?):
Date of Marriage:18-Jan-1816
Parish / District:MAHOONAGH/CASTLEMAHON
County:Co. Limerick
Husband
WifeName:PatrickJordan
ElizabethLearyAddress:

Roman CatholicWere they R C?
No Jordans in the 1821 Irish Census but the Tithe Applotments (free at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/) have 4 Patrick Jordans in Dublin 827
Townlands are Carroughbee & Newcastle Parishes Kilmacteigue & Newcastle
I thought this might be a baptism of Patrick:

Hi Col,
I have so little information about my family so I can't be certain if they were or weren't RC. But the baptism records are from St Mark's Church of Ireland and both Elizabeth and Julia were married in Presbyterian churches in Ontario. I've been told that children are usually raised in the mother's religion so possibly Patrick was RC and Elizabeth was not? Do you think they would have been married in an RC church if she was Church of Ireland?
I just looked at the tithe applotment link you sent and found the records you mentioned. I wish there was a way for me to know which one might be correct.
I'll do some more searching in the Donnybrook and Monkstown parishes.
Thank you,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
R C - Protestant marriages weren't common so it seems likely they were Protestant - but whether they converted at some stage in Ireland or Canada is hard to know.
How did you find the St Mark's record?
The Representative Church Body Library in Dublin has St Mark's Dublin Births, Marriages and Deaths from 1730 to 1971 - would it be worth getting someone to look there?

I was searching for a combination of Elizabeth and Patrick Jordan and the 3 baptism records came up but there weren't any marriage records for Patrick and Elizabeth listed. Maybe they were married somewhere else before moving to St Mark's parish?
