Patrick Dever, My gggrandfather, from Saula Achill Island. His wife was Mary, last name unknown. Their children were Ellen, Patrick (my ggrandfather, born about 1856), Bridget and Mary. My ggrandfather came to the states around 1872 and eventually ended up in Cleveland Ohio. There is a possibility that Ellen married a Carlin and Bridget married a Moran. Trying to find any information about this side of my dad's family.

SPONSORS COULD NOT WRITE.No Devers / Divers in the Irish Censuses in Mayo anywhere 1821-51; the Tithe Applotments (free at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/) have an Owen Dever in 'Sala' 1828
Griffiths Valuation (free at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/) has 30 Devers in Mayo; Andrew & Terrence in Achill, 'Salia' in 1855 (listed several times each)
The crucial question is their religion - do you know if they were C of I or R C?
The NLI R C regsiters are free on line at https://registers.nli.ie/ & have Achill marraiges 1821-29 & baptisms 1867-81 whereas the parish registers in the Representative Church Body Library Dublin have Achill births from 1854, marriages from 1855 & deaths from 1854
I had a look on my cd Memorials of the Dead Galway & Mayo for Devers and found this one - perhaps ggggg'father?:

Thank you for the info. I would say they would have been baptized Roman Catholic, as that was our upbringing. The first Patrick you listed wouldn't be right as I know my ggrandfather was born around 1856.
The 2 Patrick seniors are curious, but I don't know anyone beyond Patrick senior. In Griffiths there is a Patrick Dever from Saula, showing just a home.
The marriage of John Carlin and Ellen Devir is curious. There were 2 Carlin brothers who stayed with my great grandmother, Mary Dever, in Cleveland Ohio around 1910. Never knew if there was a link but figured there might be one. But they would possibly be John and Ellen's children.
The memorial shows Bridget as his wife but my Patrick's wife was Mary. Plus he would have been my gggrandfather. I wish I was young enough for him to be a gggggrandfather.
Again thanks. I will get lucky one of these years.
