Duggan
My Duggan ancestors have a family plot in the Abbystrowry Cemetery. The location of the plot is given as “East Top”. My records go back to Daniel Duggan who died 6 Nov 1884. His children (and their date of death) were Mary (married James Downing) 21 Mar 1926, Honora “Nora” (married Daniel O’Donovan) ???, Patrick 9 Feb 1923, Bartholomew “Batt” 8 Oct 1894, John 16 Feb 1931 (in England), Catherine “Kate” (married John Moloney) 11 Dec 1939 and Daniel 29 Nov 1918 (in England).
The only record I can find in the Abbeystrowry Burial Registry (on-line at the Skibbereen Heritage Center) is that of Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Daughter of Patrick) who died 23 May 1939 and was buried on the 25th. Person having management of internment: Daniel Duggan.
I would like to know if anyone has knowledge of other family members buried there and if there is a marker or headstone on the family plot.

Hi David,
I have been asked by Jane Halloran Ryan of Ireland XO to help you with your query.
Could you give me any further details you might have about Daniel Duggan Anything might help but particularly his age at death or his year of birth. Since found his age at death was 69. Daniel I believe was a boatbuilder probably at Oldcourt Boatyard which is located on the Baltimore Road about 2 1/2 miles from Skibbereen. He lived in Derrigareen which is the same Townland in which the Boatyard is sited.
Do ytou have any information on his wife's birth name or where she was from, This would help in locating where they got married as traditionally, marriages were in the parish of the bride. I will be continuing to search for their marriage in Skibbereen for the moment. There is a possibility that Daniel was born in the East Schull area as there is a Daniel listed in church Baptismal records in 1816 in that area but I would prefer to wait to see if any little fragment of imore nformation you may provide that would help to confirm .
I have the Civil Record of of the births and some marriages and can send to you but ther is no point in doing that if you have these records already.
Please get back to me as soon as possible either on this message board, my personal email address, frankfahy054@gmai;.com or both.
Best wishes, stay safe

Attached FilesDescendants of Daniel Duggan.pdf (325 KB)
Hello Frank, I very much appreciate your offer to help. I have completed a fair amount of research and have attached a file which should give you the additional information that you require (Daniels children's names have duplicated in the first part of the file). I think we have discounted the Daniel Duggan born in East Schull. If I remember correctly that Daniel never married. The Skibbereen Area and Schull Area families appear to be separate for the most part. I have some news articles, from the two Skibbereen papers, that also have pertinent information. I will find those and send them to you email. Thank you again. Regards, David
