Son of James McCabe 1793 - 1855 and Delia B. Kelly 1790 - 1872. Emmigrated to Canada in 1832 with parents and siblings, John (1821), Maria (1823), George (1825), James (1827), Charles (1830). James McCabe and Delia had all of their children in Westport but no record of their marriage could be found. Family history has suggested that James's father Henry (Harry) McCabe was originally from Co. Cavan and that he married a student of his, Jane Barlow. This information has not been substantiated and no record of Henry/Harry McCabe or Jane Barlow exists. Thomas came to Ontario, Canada with his family in 1832. His father James McCabe obtained Crown land which he began to work to clear for farming.
