Hi all,
I understand that the Donohoe family lived at "Derry Cassin" (or some spelling variation of this) from the 1770s to 1896. In the mid 1850s Hugh Donohoe (b.1807?, d.1896) purchased a 146 acre parcel form a Mr Smith. After Hugh's death, the land passed on to his second wife's family - the Heery family.
Hugh's first wife was Mary McGarity. They had at least eight children who emigratred to Sydney - one (Patrick) arriving in 1851 and the rest around 1868.
I'm very interested to know more about this Donohoe family in Ireland and whether there are any documents that can veify (or otherwise) the information I have.
Regards,
John

Hi John
Welcome to IrelandXO.
Yes the Census returns outline the chain of events so should be records of the transaction though slightly different from your version.
In the 1901 census John Donohoe is residing with his Sister Annie Reilly and daughters Mary Reilly and Bridget Reilly.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cavan/Lisanover/Derryc…;
In 1903 John Donohoe's niece Bridget Reilly listed above married Michael Heery (Heevy on marriage record) https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;
The 1911 Census for Derrycassan shows Michael Heery as Head of Family, his wife Bridget Reilly and children. Also in the Household is John Donohoe aged 78, single and listed as an Uncle of the Head of Family. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001688952/
Anne Donohoe Married Charles Reilly 27th Feb. 1865. Listed as a daughter of John Donoghoe of Derrycasson. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;
Based on 1901 Census John and his sister Anne Donohoe were born 1834 / 1836, their father John Donohoe possibly a brother of your connection Hugh Donohoe born abt 1807.
