The subscription site Roots Ireland did not have any Myles Gibbons baptismal records around 1820. The closest record was in Aghagower RC parish in 1829 with parents Richard Gibbons and Margaret Gibbons. The Addergoole records do not start until 1840.

Did Myles remain in Ireland or emigrate?

He emigrated to England sometime after 1847 I believe. After a couple of weeks of researching I have managed to find what happened next but I haven't been able to find anything about when the family lived in Ireland. He married a women called Mary but I am unsure of the year (perhaps some time around 1840 by the ages of their children.) I believe Myles also had a sister, Bridgit Gibbons born around 1805.

Unfortunately, many of the parishes in Co. Mayo have late starting records (1850 or later). I also looked for a Myles Gibbons marriage record to a Mary pre 1847 but did not find a record. Have you considered DNA testing? Most if not all of the companies will be having sales this month.

Thank you again for helping me! I had not thought of that. This research is for my mum so I may buy her one of those for Christmas. I've managed to find Mary's maiden name also so I will try to search for information for her side of the family.
